In the light of this week’s super full moon in Cancer, it has become clear to me that we are being asked to remove attachment to our identities in order to rise fully into our purpose and leadership. For how can we truly lead, if we are hiding?

And that’s what these identities do, isn’t it, provide a mask which we can hide behind! Some are helpful, some are not so helpful. Some mask the pain of past experiences, some provide us with a sense of self, some make us feel good, important, needed, valued. Ultimately, all of the identities we attach to bring us to believing that they are who we are. It’s not that dissolving our attachment to them means we no longer fulfil them, it’s that we are no longer defined and limited by them. We increase our capacity to be so much more of who we truly are: infinite potential. I am that I am that I am that I am.

Spirit asks us to release the limitations that these guises of safety, purpose, and sense of self offer so that we can become who we are meant to be at this important time in humanity’s evolution. Drop the identity of Mother, Father, Daughter, Healer, Fixer-upper, Happiness-maker, Peace-maker, Teacher, Guide, Worker, and by doing so become all of them and more—10,000 of them even—simply by being in your full Divine Light. This is how we truly show up for others in a way that serves them, and ourselves.

This begs the question, how do we do it? How do we release these identities that we have come to see as defining our very being? We can simply sit with ourselves, call in Spirit, and ask what identities and masks are ready to be lifted, shifted, and brought to sacred completion. Be at ease with what comes forward. If you feel the ego rise in fear, the hand grasp tighter to hold on, be assured that you are freeing yourself (and others) from your attachment to and limitations of these definitions, not from your very existence in these roles.

This morning for me, the identity of Mother arose unexpectedly from the depths of my soul. I absolutely leapt and felt myself reach up to quickly take back that word— ”What does it mean for my children if I no longer identify as Mother?” I asked, panic-stricken. “You are so much more than that,” Spirit replied, '“When you release yourself from this limited definition, you release them also, and open up the infinite opportunities that can be available to them when they can experience all of your Light.” Slowly, understanding came over me. I could see that while identifying as Mother has certainly served them, I have limited it to just a fraction of what is possible. I felt in full trust of Spirit and surrendered my identity of Mother—I must admit that I still feel apprehension as I write that! But felt in its place, expansion. I felt my capacity to hold Light increase, and in turn, felt my offering for my children grow in new and profound ways that I am excited to see manifest in the physical.

I will preface this with declaring that I am not an astrologer! However, I understand that Venus sits cazimi the Sun today, presenting a particularly potent and powerful time to do this important inner work. As Venus makes her way behind the Sun to emerge on the other side, so too does Inanna, the Goddess of Heaven and Earth, begin her ascent from the Underworld following her 9 month descent releasing, shedding and stripping away all that doesn’t serve. This cycle feels particularly resonant of our experiences last year.

So, are you ready to rise with Venus as she makes her way behind the sun to emerge in the Southern Hemisphere as the Morning Star? To harness this miraculous Venusian energy to rise from the depths of transformation to soul restoration, remembrance and reclamation? To allow the infinite aspects of your being—your 10,000 Names—to emerge?

Rest quietly in a space where you will not be disturbed and close your eyes.
Follow your breathing into your heart space and be aware of a vast space there. Rest in the space.
Say, "I open to receive, in unconditional love, the spiritual name that will help me this day as I grow into conscious realisation of more of my vast Divine Self!"
Be in your heart and imagine that through the vastness of that inner space, light and sound is weaving towards you in a unique pattern of colour, movement and geometry. You may hear, sense, feel or perceive a name, sound or pattern, or it may be happening.
beneath the level of your conscious awareness, which is fine too! Just let it come to you as obviously or as subtly as it wishes to, for this will serve you best. Imagine the pattern, vibration, name, sound or light drawing effortlessly into your heart and feeling the essence of that pattern, name, sound, light or vibration. This is a gift from your Divine Essence. Don't analyse it, just allow it to flow.
Whatever does or does not happen obviously is perfect for you.
Once you are fully connected with your heart, think "Thank you!" and when you are ready, just open your eyes.
